Yesterday, the WTO announced that on September 3, the WTO Director-General had composed the panel in the WTO complaint brought by Australia against China's AD/CVD measures on barley (DS598).
The panelists in the case are:
Chairperson:
- Enie Neri de Ross, from Venezuela, has been a WTO panelist on 13 previous WTO panel reports, most of which involved trade remedy issues.
Members:
- Jose Antonio de la Puente León, from Peru, has been a WTO panelist on two recent trade remedy cases.
- Catharina Janse van Vuuren is a long-time trade remedy official from South Africa.
The announcement also notes that Brazil, Canada, the EU, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Ukraine, the UK, and the U.S. have reserved their rights to participate in the panel proceedings as third parties
In recent years, it has generally taken somewhere between one and a quarter years and just over two years from panel composition to the circulation of the panel report to the public.
