China Issues New Rules for Gene-Edited Crops and GMOs, Paving the Path for Commercialization

China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) recently issued the provisional rules for gene-edited plants for agricultural purposes. In addition, the MARA finalized some changes to regulations governing genetically modified organisms (GMOs). These changes have been seen as signs of China moving closer to allowing commercial production of GMOs.
