Today, China's retaliatory tariffs in the latest round of the U.S.-China trade spat entered into effect. A report produced by a U.S. think tank estimates the economic pain to be most acute in rural and industrial regions that overwhelmingly supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, with some areas seeing an impact on over half of their employment in affected industries.
