A Chinese-owned company that makes security equipment tried to challenge a European Commission search of its European offices in a case related to an investigation of subsidies, but the EU General Court has rejected its claim.

Last week, news reports indicated that the European Commission had conducted searches of Chinese company Nuctech in relation to an investigation under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and European Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager spoke about the searches and this regulation in a competition policy speech.

Recent reporting indicates that the U.S. government is trying to persuade Mexico not to use Chinese-made scanners as part of its border security operations.

Three Members of the European Parliament have sent a letter to a French government official to express concern about Strasbourg airport's deal to buy baggage-scanning equipment made by Chinese state-owned company Nuctech.
