Yesterday, the Trump administration initiated a broad trade war with the entire world, imposing a baseline 10% tariff on all countries, with a higher level on countries it deemed to have higher tariffs and non-tariff barriers. The additional tariff imposed on Chinse imports will be 34%. The administration also eliminated the tariff exemption for de minimis imports from China, effective in May.
