Trump's Early Trade Actions Target Rest of World As Much As China
In President Trump's first few weeks in office, he has been very active on trade policy, frequently airing his complaints about trade deficits and unfair trade. From a Chinese perspective, his early activity is probably somewhat of a relief, as he and his administration have challenged other U.S. trading partners as much as, if not more than, they have taken on China. However, the absence of a focus on China may not last, as there are almost certainly going to be a wide range of new trade actions against China in the coming months and years.
